公元前539年提市黎月16日(12月12日),巴比伦城陷于波斯军队。居鲁士于该年马西班月3日(12月29日)进入该城。但按巴比伦年历,直到次年元旦,即犹太历尼散月1日(3月24日),才算登基年的开始。此前的所有文献都按这个“登基年”(见本书卷二138页)来推算的。犹太人则按照自己的历法来推算波斯王室的年历。依据犹太人的年历,巴比伦陷落后的第一年是从公元前538年秋到537年秋。关于这个问题,详见本书96,97页。关于“玛代人大流士王”,见本书95页,又见《但以理书》第六章补充注释。 居鲁士让犹太人回归的诏书,似乎是从玛代原来的首都伊克巴塔纳(Achmetha)发布的。这座城成为波斯国王的夏宫之一。若干年后在伊克巴塔纳的档案里,发现了这份诏书的副本(拉6:2),说明居鲁士在位第一年曾在那里住过一段时期。同时代巴比伦金融机构的档案提到居鲁士于公元前537年九月或九月之前在伊克巴塔钠。这是犹太年历巴比伦陷落后第一年之末。
居鲁士。
是希伯来语 Koresh 的拉丁化希腊语拼法,相当于波斯语Kurush和巴比伦语Kurash。
耶利米。
这里提到《耶利米记》的两个预言(耶25:11,12;和29:10),使但以理得知回归和复兴的时间已经来到(但9:2)。因为巴比伦之囚是公元前605年(见@但1:1@节注释)开始的,把头尾两年计算在内(见本书卷二136页),耶利米预言的七十年应该在536年结束。所以,如果居鲁士下诏是在537年的夏天或秋天,而犹太人是在下一年回归故土,那就应验了耶利米的预言(见96,97页)。
激动波斯王居鲁士的心。
就像过去上帝感动外邦统治者实施祂的旨意那样(创20:3;但2:28等),祂现在感动居鲁士,使以赛亚一百五十多年前有关这个君主的预言得当应验(赛44:28;45:1-4,13)。
下诏。

赐给我。

又嘱咐我。
“祂”是一个强调词。其强调意义可以从该词古希腊语和拉丁语译本中看出来。居鲁士显然是指赛44:28。约瑟弗斯(《上古史》xi.1)说居鲁士是在攻陷巴比伦以后不久看到这段经文的。很可能是但以理告诉居鲁士有关他征服巴比伦,下令重建耶路撒冷圣殿的预言(见《先知和君王》557页)。在上述泥桶铭文上,居鲁士宣布送回了被巴比伦人掠夺到他们首都的许多外国神祗。他还重建了许多荒芜的圣所。下令让犹太人在耶路撒冷重建圣殿是在他统治的第一年。很可能这种英明的政策(见《先知和君王》571,572页),使他对待治下的百姓和他们的神采取了同样的态度。国王对于犹太人和他们重建圣殿的这种做法完全符合他后来的普遍政策,就是让那些遭受巴比伦暴政的各民族高兴,以得到他们作为波斯帝国新公民的善意和忠诚。

gizbar),出现在这里和拉7:21中。Gizbar 是波斯外来语,其巴比伦语拼法是ganzabaru。在《以斯拉记》里使用了这个词和其他波斯根源的词汇,说明其原文是写于波斯帝国时代的,其作者与所描述的事情是同一个时代的。
犹大的首领设巴萨。

本会注释 有人会注意到第9,10节圣殿器皿的清单,总数是2,499个,而不是第11节的5,400个。这分清单可能仅仅是一部分,并且以斯拉也没有想写满总数。但是清单最后一项似乎包括所有其他没有列出的器皿。我们可以推算出前面清单和总数之间的差额。所有古代的希伯来文本与英文KJV版相同。但值得注意的是次经《以斯达士一书》相应章节中(2:13,14)列出了1,000个“金杯”而不是这里的30个,列出2,410个“银瓶”,而在拉1:10中只有410个,以此避开表面的差异。其他数字都一样的。《以斯达士一书》2:14的总数是5,469个,是所列各种物品的总和。有人认为《以斯达士一书》里的数字是故意做了改动,以解决拉1:9-11表面上的矛盾。总之,尚无充足的证据回答这个问题。
盘(
'agartelim)是一个词义不确切的词汇。在七十士译本,武加大译本和亚兰语译本里译为“盆”,许多现代版本采用了这个译法。
刀(
machalaph),只出现在旧约圣经的这个章节,其词义不清楚。依据上下文,是指某种器皿。
